Our story

Named for the owls that hunt these skies

Joshua Tree is owl country. Great horned owls are year-round residents of the national park. Barn owls — pale-faced, silent, unmistakable in a headlight — hunt the open desert margins at dusk. Guests have spotted them on this land: one family saw a white owl their first night; another guest noticed one before they even booked, then again on arrival.

“Spotting a beautiful white owl one night — something our kids are still talking about.”— Matt, guest

The name stuck because the house is built for the same hours owls own — not the bright midday desert, but the long Mojave twilight, the hot tub after dark, the Milky Way through the dome, the fire when the air finally cools. Fifteen minutes from Joshua Tree National Park, an International Dark Sky Park, you get that sky without leaving the gate.

The house

The kind of quiet you can feel

Two king bedrooms, a great room that opens to the pool, and 1.5 fenced acres between you and the Mojave — seven minutes from downtown Joshua Tree, fifteen from the park entrance.

Every amenity on the property follows the Joshua Tree day: sun at the pool, golden hour at the heart sculpture, owls and stars after dark.

Joshua Tree rhythm

How the desert day maps to this house

Joshua Tree rewards a slower clock. Owls wake at dusk; the Milky Way rises after the pool deck goes quiet. Everything here follows that same arc.

Afternoon
High desert sun

Pool and hammocks while the Mojave heat peaks — the same brutal, beautiful light that sculpts the park's boulders and yuccas.

Golden hour
Heart at sunset

Local artist's wooden heart arch — one of Joshua Tree's favorite proposal spots as the sky turns copper over the mountains.

Dusk
When owls wake

Great horned and barn owls hunt at twilight across open desert. Guests have watched pale shapes glide over this fence line at exactly this hour.

After dark
Dark sky hours

Hot tub under stars, projector in the dome, fire pit as the desert cools — the same night the park's stargazers drive in for.

What's included

Amenities built for the Mojave

Every feature matches something Joshua Tree is famous for — brutal sun, creative desert culture, owl-quiet nights, and some of the darkest skies in Southern California.

01
24ft pool

Mojave afternoons run hot at 3,000 feet. The pool is your counterpoint to the park's sun-baked trails.

02
Hot tub 24/7

Owls hunt after dark — so do stargazers. The spa stays hot for the hours that matter in Joshua Tree.

03
Stargazing dome

The park is an International Dark Sky Park, 15 minutes away. The dome lets you lie under the Milky Way without leaving the property.

04
Heart sculpture

A local artist's wooden heart — Joshua Tree's creative desert culture, framed against open sky.

05
1.5 fenced acres

High-desert openness with a gate. Room for owls overhead and privacy below — no neighbors in sight.

06
Dog-friendly

Fully fenced Mojave land with room to roam off-leash under the same wide sky.

07
Full kitchen

Cook in after a park day, or grill outside as the desert temperature drops.

08
Fast wifi & AC

Desert heat and desert quiet — cool off inside, then step back out when the stars come on.

09
Fire pit

Joshua Tree nights cool fast. Adirondack chairs, s'mores, and the silence owls hunt in.

10
Decks & hammocks

Two decks and hammocks facing the same mountain views that draw millions to the park each year.

11
Outdoor shower

Hot water under open Mojave sky — rinse off after the pool with nothing but desert air above.

12
BBQ & dining

Eat outside as the light fades — the hour the desert shifts from day to dark-sky country.

What people say after they stay

The pool comes up first. Then the quiet after dark. Then how hard it was to leave.

Amazing place — we almost didn't want to go to Joshua Tree. Extremely private, well-stocked clean kitchen. The backyard can't be beat: pool, hot tub, outdoor shower, fire pit, dome tent, and yard games. Inside was perfect. Book with confidence.

Lovely property, as described. Very private, great star viewing, close to town. Pool, hot tub, and Hypedome all very clean. Host was extremely responsive. I would definitely stay again.

Worth it. We stayed at the property for the most part — lots of games, corn hole, hot tub, nice pool. A very memorable experience. I'll be back.
